• Description: Nitrosonium hexafluorophosphate (NHF2) is a monomer that has been used in pharmaceutical preparations as an intermediate to generate nitric oxide. Nitrosonium hexafluorophosphate has been shown to be a potent serine protease inhibitor with a redox potential of -1.88 V vs. Ag/AgCl, which makes it useful for the synthesis of organic films and magnetic resonance spectroscopy. NHF2 is also a strong reducing agent that can be used to reduce metal carbonyls such as ferrocene to produce their corresponding hydrocarbons. Nitrosonium hexafluorophosphate can also be used in organic solvents for reactions at low temperatures or as an oxidant in reactions involving organic solutions.
