    Description:Octenylsuccinic anhydride is a succinic anhydride that has been synthesized from 1-octene and succinic acid. It is used as a crosslinking agent in the manufacture of polymers and as a process optimization agent for starch processing. Octenylsuccinic anhydride is also used in the production of pharmaceuticals, dyes, and perfumes. The surface methodology for octenylsuccinic anhydride was developed to produce agglomerated particles with controlled particle size distribution. This method was optimized by using sodium carbonate as the surface modifier at low pH. Octenylsuccinic anhydride is lipid soluble and can be used to modify lipids in biological systems. Clinical pathology studies have shown that this chemical has immunomodulatory effects through its interaction with toll-like receptor activity index.
