Octahydroacridine is a molecule with the chemical formula H2C=CC=N. It is a colorless compound that can be synthesized from quinoline derivatives, and is soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform and acetone. Octahydroacridine has been shown to form stable complexes with metal ions such as Al3+, Cu2+, Cr3+, Fe3+, Mn2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, and Zn2+. This compound also forms hydrogen bonds with other molecules. Octahydroacridine is acidic and hydroxylated at the 1, 2, 3 and 4 positions on the acridine ring, which may account for its membrane permeability. It has been shown to react with quinoline derivatives to form compounds that are used in coordination chemistry.
