Description:Obeldesivir, also known as GS-5245, is a broad-spectrum antiviral nucleoside analog targeting the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) of SARS-CoV-2 and other coronaviruses. Its mechanism of action, similar to remdesivir, involves chain termination by incorporation into the viral RNA strand, thereby inhibiting viral replication. Obeldesivir has demonstrated promising in vitro and in vivo efficacy against SARS-CoV-2, with ongoing clinical trials to evaluate its safety and efficacy in humans. It has also demonstrated in some early in vitro and in vivo studies its efficacy against a range of viruses, including filoviruses (Ebola virus), flaviviruses (Dengue virus, Zika virus), and paramyxoviruses (respiratory syncytial virus).
