Product Information
1-O-Octadecyl-rac-glycero-3-phosphocholine is a reactive alkylphospholipid analog. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of leukemia cells and bone cancer cells, as well as induce apoptosis in hl60 cells. 1-O-Octadecyl-rac-glycero-3-phosphocholine binds to mitochondria, which leads to mitochondrial membrane potential collapse and the release of cytochrome c, followed by activation of caspase 3. This compound also has an effect on cancer cells, but does not appear to be cytotoxic for normal cells. 1-O-Octadecyl-rac glycero 3 phosphocholine is localized in mitochondria and nuclear DNA and may have a role in mitochondrial mediated apoptosis.
