Description:Octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate is a phenolic compound that has been used as an antioxidant in wastewater treatment. It is soluble in methanol and reacts with sodium carbonate to form octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzoyl)propanoate. This product has been shown to have a high chemical stability and to inhibit the oxidation of glycol esters. Octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate has also been shown to exhibit antioxidative properties in the presence of polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
