    Product Information

    Name:4,4'-Oxydiphthalic anhydride
    Synonyms:
    • 3,3′,4,4′-Diphenyl ether tetracarboxylic acid dianhydrideODPA5,5′-Oxybis[1,3-isobenzofurandione]
    Brand:Biosynth
Description:4,4'-Oxydiphthalic anhydride (ODPA) is a thermally stable, organic compound that undergoes little or no chemical reaction with water vapor. It is used to produce polyurethane foam, which has excellent thermal properties and can be used as insulation. ODPA is also used in the production of polyesters. The molecular structure of this compound is similar to that of alicyclic dianhydrides. This similarity allows it to undergo a cyclization reaction with fatty acid esters in an organic solvent to form polymers with high melting points and low permeability. ODPA has been shown to have good mechanical properties when used as a polymer film and can be used for applications such as protective coatings on metal surfaces. ODPA has been found to have high reactivity with inorganic acids such as hydrogen chloride and sulfuric acid, leading to the formation of hydrochloric acid and sulfonic acids respectively.
