Description:

3,4'-Oxydiphthalic anhydride is a solvent and monomer that is resistant to thermal expansion. It has a viscosity of 8 cP at 25°C and a melting point of 205°C. 3,4'-Oxydiphthalic anhydride is soluble in organic solvents, such as biphenyl, and has been shown to be processable at temperatures up to 300°C. This polymer also has a high thermal stability and can be used for the production of plastics with heat resistance up to 230°C. 3,4'-Oxydiphthalic anhydride displays morphology with a regular structure that changes from crystalline to amorphous when heated or cooled. The strain on the polymer chain increases when it is heated or cooled, leading to expansion or contraction respectively.
