Ombuoside is a saponin that can be found in Rhizoma Gastrodiae, Carthamus Tinctorius, and Ganoderma Lucidum. It has been reported to have a high detection sensitivity. Ombuoside has been shown to exhibit antioxidant activities by scavenging free radicals. It also exhibits radical scavenging activities in liver cells. This compound is also used as an intermediate for the synthesis of dendrobium candidum, which is a potential anticancer drug.
