Description:3-Octadecanone is a fatty acid that can be found in the seed oils of Cochlospermaceae. 3-Octadecanone has been shown to inhibit the growth of colorectal carcinoma cells and also has anti-inflammatory properties. It is able to bind to pyridoxal phosphate, which is required for the synthesis of bioactive molecules such as fatty acids and prostaglandins. 3-Octadecanone has also demonstrated antimalarial activity against erythrocytic stages of Plasmodium falciparum, the parasite that causes malaria, and also inhibits cancer cell proliferation in vitro.
