Ophiopogonin B is a natural compound that has been extracted from the rhizoma gastrodiae plant. It has a hypoglycemic effect and inhibits the enzymes in the insulin signaling pathway, including protein kinase B, glycogen synthase kinase-3β, and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/Akt. Ophiopogonin B also induces significant cytotoxicity to cells and causes caspase-independent cell death. This compound has been shown to have synergistic effects when combined with other compounds such as angelicae dahuricae.
