Description:

2-Phenoxymethylbenzoic acid is a hydroxy group, hydrogen chloride, and quinoline derivative that can inhibit the growth of bacteria. It has been shown to be effective against p. aeruginosa and other Gram-negative bacteria. This compound inhibits cellular transformation in caco2 cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis or DNA replication. 2-Phenoxymethylbenzoic acid also has an inhibitory effect on the growth of human cells in culture by binding to proteins that are involved in cell division. This compound may have potential as an anti-infective agent for use in treating bacterial infections.
