Parylene F is a biodegradable polymer that has been used in a variety of industrial applications, such as coating for electrical components and medical devices. Parylene F is processed from p-xylene and chloroform, which are reacted to produce poly(chlorotrifluoroethylene), which is then polymerized with formaldehyde. The resulting product is a dimer of two parylenes. Parylene F has shown efficacy in the treatment of aneurysms and arterial occlusions. It has also been utilized to coat electrodes for electrophysiological studies due to its stable electrochemical properties and high dielectric strength.
