Product Information
H-Phe-Trp-OH is an inhibitor of protein phosphatase 2A and is used in the diagnosis of kidney cancer. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) is a technique that can be used to measure the concentration of phosphate groups in tissues. Hypophosphatemia, or low phosphate levels in the body, is associated with a number of diseases, including kidney cancer. This molecule inhibits the activity of phosphatase 2A and can be used as a diagnostic marker for such conditions. The enzyme has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on vitamin D3-induced synthesis of calcitriol (1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3), which may be due to its ability to sequester phosphate groups. H-Phe-Trp-OH binds to proteins and has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on other enzymes such as histidine phosphatase and glutamine phosphatase.
