Description:

Z-Phe-Leu-OH is a protease inhibitor that belongs to the group of peptidyl-protease inhibitors. It inhibits the activity of a wide range of proteases and is specifically active against carboxypeptidases A and B. Z-Phe-Leu-OH has been shown to be specific for these enzymes, with no inhibitory activity against other proteases such as aminopeptidases, serine proteases, or metalloproteases. The amino acid composition of this protease inhibitor is different from other inhibitors that have been studied in detail. This agent was found to be more effective than phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride (PMSF) at inhibiting carboxypeptidase A and B.
Z-Phe-Leu-OH has been shown to be an acidic compound with a pKa of 5.5; however, it does not react with chloromethyl ketone
