Brand:Biosynth
Description:Phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride (PMSF) is a chemical compound that inhibits the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which is responsible for the breakdown of acetylcholine. It has been shown to inhibit the production of nitric oxide and superoxide anion by human polymorphonuclear leukocytes. Phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride also inhibits matrix metalloproteinases in neural cells. The inhibition of these enzymes leads to a reduction in the rate of cell growth and proliferation. In addition, PMSF inhibits signal peptide cleavage by cytoplasmic proteinases, which may be one of its mechanisms for inhibiting protein synthesis. This drug also has an effect on nitrate reductase activity, as well as x-ray diffraction data from biological samples such as rat urine and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) data from DNA samples. PMSF possesses michaelis-menten kinetics with respect to its substrate,
