8-Prenylquercetin is a prenylflavonoid that belongs to the group of polyphenolic compounds. It is found in plants belonging to the genus Glycyrrhiza, such as Glycyrrhiza glabra, and has been reported to have anticancer activity. 8-Prenylquercetin inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting protein synthesis and inducing cell death. 8-Prenylquercetin also prevents tumor formation by inducing differentiation and apoptosis in preneoplastic cells. This compound has been shown to enhance anticancer activity of chemotherapeutic agents such as cisplatin and paclitaxel.
