Product Information
Pinoresinol dimethyl ether (PDE) is a natural compound that has been shown to induce autophagy. It was found in the etoac extract of Pinus pinaster and has been used for over 30 years as an analytical reagent. PDE is a sesquiterpene lactone with the molecular formula C 15 H 24 O 2 and two hydroxyl groups on the cyclohexane ring. The purified compound is a white powder, which is soluble in chloroform, ethanol, acetone, or benzene. PDE has also been shown to inhibit cyclase activity and to be an inhibitor of protein synthesis. Moreover, PDE has been shown to have physiological effects such as growth factor-β1 production and inhibition of sodium salts-induced erythrocyte aggregation.
