Pseudolaric acid C (PAC) is a diterpene that is found in the rhizomes of "Pseudolarix kaempferi", a plant native to Japan. PAC has been shown to inhibit fatty acid metabolism and fatty acid biosynthesis by binding to the C1-6 alkyl group at the 3-position of the fatty acid. The drug also inhibits histone methylation, DNA methylation, and receptor binding. PAC has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties due to its inhibition of alcohol extraction and hydroxide solution. It also prevents lipid peroxidation by inhibiting the enzyme that catalyzes this oxidation, namely lipoxygenase.
