Propoxycarbazone-sodium is a herbicide that belongs to the group of carbonyl-containing herbicides. It inhibits the growth of plants by blocking the synthesis of membrane lipids that are necessary for plant growth and reproduction. Propoxycarbazone-sodium has been shown to have high resistance in plants and is used as an herbicide in crop protection. The active substances in propoxycarbazone-sodium have been identified as binding to carbohydrates and inhibiting transport, which leads to a reduction in the uptake of nutrients from the soil. This product has been shown to be nontoxic for human food, such as wheat, rye, barley, oat, and triticum aestivum.
