Description:Zofenopril calcium is a potassium-containing salt of zofenopril, a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to the active form, 4-phenylthio-L-proline. Zofenopril calcium is used as an antihypertensive agent and has a low incidence of adverse effects. It inhibits the enzyme angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) in the renin-angiotensin system, which results in decreased levels of angiotensin II and subsequent vasodilation.
