Propargyl alcohol is a propargyl compound that has been shown to bind to the hydroxyl group of an allyl carbonate. It has been shown to have carcinogenic effects in rats, but not in mice. Propargyl alcohol is also a good electrochemical agent for the synthesis of 1,4-dioxane. It reacts with an inorganic acid and forms a catalyst for the transfer reactions of organic compounds. This substance induces enzymes and is used as an asymmetric synthesis reagent in human serum.
