Product Information
Name:4-Pyridinecarboxaldehyde
Synonyms:
- 4-Pyridine aldehyde
Brand:Biosynth
Description:4-Pyridinecarboxaldehyde is a molecule that exhibits hydrogen bonding interactions with biological molecules and has been shown to have antimicrobial activity. It has also been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme malonic acid decarboxylase (MAD) in vitro. This inhibitory effect is due to intramolecular hydrogen bonding interactions between the nitrogen atoms and the 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid moiety of 4-pyridinecarboxaldehyde. These interactions lead to the formation of a covalent bond between the two molecules, which prevents MAD from catalyzing the conversion of malonic acid into succinic acid. The fluorescence probe 4-pyridinecarboxaldehyde has been used as an inhibitor for this enzyme in order to study its role in metabolic disorders such as Gaucher disease.
