Description

Pyrethrum is a natural insecticide that belongs to the group of pyrethroids. It is a mixture of four related compounds, including three esters (pyrethrin) and one ether (pyrethroid). Pyrethrum has been shown to be genotoxic in mammalian cells and to cause neuronal death in mice. It has also been found to have insecticidal properties against mosquitoes, flies, fleas, and ticks. The matrix effect of pyrethrum on insects may be due to its ability to inhibit voltage-gated sodium channels.
