Tert-pentyl methyl ether (TPME) is an enzyme inhibitor that inhibits the activity of enzymes in a variety of chemical reactions. TPME's inhibition mechanism is based on its reaction with the diazonium salt to form a covalent bond with the enzyme. TPME has been shown to inhibit fatty acid oxidase and phospholipase A2, as well as other enzymes such as esterases, lipases, and proteases. TPME also reacts with proteins by forming a covalent bond at the amino groups of proteins or at the terminal amino groups of proteins. This reactive compound has been used to study antibody production and monoclonal antibodies.
