This leads to an acylation reaction between propiophenone and ethylene diamine, which produces a methyl ketone. The next step is the formation of an imine from a second molecule of ethylene diamine and another molecule of propiophenone, which then reacts with another molecule of ethylene diamine in an asymmetric synthesis process. !--
