Description:Postaglandin B1 is a surfactant that has been shown to inhibit the production of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in wild-type strains. This inhibition leads to a decrease in the levels of PGE2, which are involved in the pathogenic mechanism and cause hypersecretion of mucous. The enzyme activities of phospholipase A2, cyclooxygenase, and lipoxygenase were also inhibited by postaglandin B1. Postaglandin B1 also showed a significant hypoglycemic effect when administered to mice at physiological levels. This drug also inhibits transcriptional regulation and protein synthesis in the presence of hydrophobic molecules.
