Potassium formate is a chemical compound that is often used in wastewater treatment. It is an antimicrobial agent that has been shown to be effective against bowel disease and has a low toxicity. Potassium formate inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to them and preventing their ability to grow. Formic acid, one of the components of potassium formate, also has inhibitory properties.
