Name:Pentaerythritol dibromide
Synonyms:
- 2,2-Bis(bromomethyl)-1,3-propanediol
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Pentaerythritol dibromide is a hydroxylated derivative of pentaerythritol. It reacts with bromine in the presence of a catalyst to form pentabromoethane, which is used to produce polymers and other materials. Pentaerythritol dibromide has been shown to be toxic for CD-1 mice and zirconium oxide. The main route of metabolism is through the formation of an acid complex in the bladder, which can lead to clinical pathology. Pentaerythritol dibromide has also shown to be reactive with fatty acids that can cause damage to cell membranes.
