Pilocarpic acid sodium salt is a heterocyclic compound with a methylene group at the C5 position. This molecule is an ester derivative of pilocarpine, which is derived from hydroxybenzoic acid and 3-hydroxyphenylacetic acid. Pilocarpic acid sodium salt has been shown to lower intraocular pressure in animals and humans suffering from glaucoma.
