Description:Prazobind is an irreversible inhibitor of the enzyme phosphodiesterase 3. This drug inhibits the degradation of cyclic AMP, which leads to increased intracellular levels of Ca2+. Prazobind has been shown to have a beneficial effect on liver cells and phenoxybenzamine-induced hypertension in rats. The kinetic data obtained from polymerase chain reaction studies show that Prazobind has a high affinity for polymerase enzymes with a low dissociation constant. This drug also inhibits transcription and replication by binding to the active site of RNA polymerase. It also produces an increase in proximal tubule Ca2+ influx and glomerular filtration rate in rats, which may be due to reactive functional groups present in the drug.
