Description:Propiolic acid sodium salt (PAPS) is a corrosion inhibitor that prevents the formation of rust on metal surfaces. It contains a carbonyl group and a hydroxide ion. PAPS has been shown to react in a non-polar solvent such as n-dimethylformamide with nitrogen atoms or an amine to produce a proton, which can then be used to reduce fatty acids. This reaction is expressed in the following equation:
