Description:Prostacyclin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits the production of prostaglandin, which is an inflammatory agent. Prostacyclin has been shown to be effective in the treatment of primary pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary hypertension. The mechanism of action of prostacyclin is not fully understood, but it appears to inhibit neuronal death and reduce the severity of pulmonary hypertension. Prostacyclin also has inhibitory properties on prostaglandins I2 (PGI2) receptors.
