Description:Pyromeconic acid is a trifluoroacetic acid derivative that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Pyromeconic acid has a redox potential of -0.07 V at pH 7 and can act as a reducing agent in biological systems. It has been shown to inhibit the methylation of pueraria lobata and the transferase activity of methionine synthase, which plays a role in the synthesis of proteins. Pyromeconic acid also inhibits the production of sesquiterpene lactones in carthamus tinctorius, which are responsible for its anti-inflammatory effects. It is an acidic chemical that contains a hydroxyl group and coordinates with metals such as copper, zinc, and nickel.
