Pentachloroaniline is an analytical chemical that is used to measure the concentration of chloroanilines in urine samples. It is a colorless liquid, which reacts with dinucleotide phosphate (DNP) and can be measured by a multi-reaction monitoring technique. This process uses a matrix effect to detect the presence of pentachloroaniline in urine samples. Pentachloroaniline can also be detected by measuring the concentration of galacturonic acid or its derivatives in lettuce, since they are considered to be the most sensitive indicators for this compound. The measurement of pentachloroaniline is performed using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, which has shown that it binds to ethylene diamine as well as hydrochloric acid and methyl ethyl horticultural.
