Pyrazosulfuron-ethyl is a sulfonylurea herbicide that inhibits the growth of plants by blocking the synthesis of proteins in the plant. It is used to control broadleaf weeds and grasses, especially in industrial areas such as roadsides, railways, and airports. Pyrazosulfuron-ethyl has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to p-450 enzymes and preventing their activity. This herbicide also inhibits the synthesis of urea nitrogen in bacteria and can be detected in human serum, which may be due to its terminal residues.
