Description:

Propargite is a pesticide that belongs to the group of synergists. It has a synergistic effect with other pesticides, such as DDT and chlordane. Sublethal doses have been shown to have a synergic effect on the chemical response in receptor activity studies in mice. Propargite also has a disulfide bond which is necessary for its stability and function. The sample preparation for propargite is extraction with glycol ethers, which can be measured using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Propargite has been shown to cause genotoxic effects such as DNA strand breaks and chromosomal aberrations in mammalian cells at high concentrations. These effects are due to the reaction mechanism of propargite, which involves the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by reacting with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
