Description:1,2-Propylene glycol diacetate is a film-forming polymer that can be used as an adhesive and coating material. This polymer has been shown to form acid when dissolved in water. Propylene glycol diacetate also reacts with amines to form nitriles and with boron nitride to produce boranes. It has been used in wastewater treatment because of its ability to remove metal ions from the water, which is due to its reactive nature. Propylene glycol diacetate is also a component of some glycol ethers, which are used as solvents for paints, adhesives, and printing inks. The reaction between propylene glycol diacetate and caproic acid yields a hydroxyl group, which is an important component of many organic compounds. This polymer forms intermolecular hydrogen bonds with fatty acids such as oleic acid.
