PheNoxathiiN-4-boroNic acid has been shown to bind to bacterial cells by using the same mechanism as other boronic compounds. It also inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA.
