PEG methyl ether is an organic compound that has a variety of applications. It can be used as a solvent, emulsifier, and stabilizer in media such as water, oil, and air. PEG methyl ether also has anti-tumor activity in vivo studies. The coding is determined by the number of methyl groups (1 to 3) on the ether chain. The less methyl groups on the chain, the more hydrophobic it will be. Acidic conditions cause the molecule to break down into ethylene diamine and water vapor. PEG methyl ether can also be synthesized from ethylene diamine and methanol or ethanol. PEG methyl ether is used to synthesize micelles for drug delivery systems due to its ability to form spherical structures with hydrophilic ends and hydrophobic tails. These micelles are then mixed with drugs that have been dissolved in aqueous solutions or suspended in oily mediums such as peanut oil or sesame oil
