Potassium hydrogen sulfate is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the growth of bacteria by reacting with sulfates to form bisulfates. This reaction also releases a large amount of heat, which may be advantageous for sterilizing heat-sensitive products. Potassium hydrogen sulfate has been shown to have a significant effect on autoimmune diseases and HIV infection.
