L-Proline 4-nitroanilide is a racemic mixture of L-proline and D-proline. It is an acidic compound that has been shown to be a substrate for peptidases. The binding constants of the compound have been determined using Sephadex G-100 microcells. This compound has been found to be active against infectious diseases such as bacterial vaginosis. In addition, L-Proline 4-nitroanilide can be used to diagnose women with this disease by measuring the enzyme activities in vaginal secretions.
