Description

3-Palmitoyl-sn-glycerol is a fatty acid that is synthesized in the body from 3-hydroxyacyl coenzyme A. It aids in the synthesis of glycerides and phospholipids, which are important for cellular membranes. 3-Palmitoyl-sn-glycerol has been shown to have a hypoglycemic effect on diabetic patients, which may be due to its ability to reduce hepatic glucose production and increase insulin sensitivity. This compound also plays an important role in energy metabolism by providing the substrate for beta oxidation and ketogenesis. 3-Palmitoyl-sn-glycerol is used as a supplement for people with metabolic disorders, such as obesity and diabetes mellitus type II.
