O-Phospho-DL-serine is a nonprotein amino acid that is synthesized in plants and microorganisms. It is an intermediate in the metabolism of phosphoserine, which can be converted to phosphoserine by the enzyme phosphoserine phosphatase. O-Phospho-DL-serine has been shown to have anti-cancer properties, as it inhibits the growth of various human cancer cell lines by dephosphorylating and inhibiting protein kinases. O-Phospho-DL-serine also has a role in the activation of response elements and cytokines, especially in the presence of growth factors such as fibroblast growth factor β1 (FGFβ1).
