Product Information
- Pht-DL-Val-OH
Phthaloyl-DL-Valine is an amino acid that has been used to synthesize a number of chemical compounds, including pharmaceuticals. It is synthesized by the condensation of phthalic anhydride with DL-valine. This compound is used as a modifier in high performance liquid chromatography, and it has been shown to adsorb other compounds. A number of biogenic amines are also known to be modified by this compound, including histamine, tyramine, and tryptamine. The use of this compound as a modifier in HPLC has been shown to increase the retention time for these compounds. Phthaloyl-DL-Valine can also be activated using light energy or heat energy, which leads to its conversion into a chloride or dichroism spectra.
