Description:Phthaloyl-L-glutamic acid anhydride is a glutamic acid derivative that is synthesized by the reaction of l-glutamine and phthaloyl chloride. It can be used to synthesize benzyl esters of l-glutamic acid, which have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Phthaloyl-L-glutamic acid anhydride has been used in the synthesis of a variety of drugs including corticosteroids and anthracyclines. The drug is toxic at high concentrations and should be handled with care. This compound also has a pH optimum of 7.5 and requires a reaction time of 24 hours.
