It has been shown to inhibit the activity of the enzyme matrix metalloproteinase, which is involved in tumor invasion and metastasis. 3PPH also binds to the dopamine receptor, but with a lower affinity than other ligands. 3PPH has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on dopamine induced phosphatase activation in HL-60 cells.
