2-(2-Pyridyl)aniline is a primary alcohol that is used in the synthesis of biomolecules. It has been shown to be a suitable reactant for transfer reactions and has been investigated as a possible precursor for naphthyridine and pyridine ring formation. This compound also can be used as a template molecule in the preparation of formamide, which can then be used for c-h bond cleavage to form protonated molecules. 2-(2-Pyridyl)aniline has an ultrafast lifetime and is able to undergo molecular rearrangement in femtoseconds. The molecule is five-membered and contains two pyridine rings.
