Product Information
Name:1-Phenyl-cyclopropylamine hydrochloride
Synonyms:
- 1-Phenylcyclopropanamine hydrochloride
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Phenyl-cyclopropylamine hydrochloride (PCPA) is a fluorescent probe for the detection of hydroxyl radicals in living cells. It has been shown to be useful for magnetic resonance spectroscopy as deuterium isotope effect can be detected. PCPA is activated by oxidases and isomerizes to an inactive form when denatured by heat or alkaline pH. The flavin component of PCPA is essential for its reactivity with hydroxyl radicals. PCPA reacts with electron donor molecules such as flavin, NADPH, and reduced glutathione to produce a variety of reaction products that are detectable by magnetic resonance spectroscopy. These include free radicals such as FL-PCA, H2O2, and lipid peroxides. The activation of PCPA can also be used to measure the activity of bacterial enzymes that generate reactive oxygen species such as lactoperoxidase and myeloperoxidase.
