Product Information
- 3-Phenylacetylacetone
- Phenylpentanedione
3-Phenyl-2,4-pentanedione is a hydroxy group that is additively active in the presence of metal ions. It can be used as a solid catalyst for the preparation of esters, amides, and nitriles. When 3-phenyl-2,4-pentanedione is mixed with a metal ion such as ferric chloride, the reaction product is luminescent. 3-Phenyl-2,4-pentanedione has stereoselective reactions with respect to acid complex formation and selectivities for silicon and trifluoroacetic acid. The compound's nmr spectra are characterized by a chelate ring with phenyl groups.
